Implant size selection is one of the most important aspects of a successful breast augmentation procedure. The choice is highly personal, but must remain within accepted safe surgical technology. During the consultation, you will have the opportunity to try on sizer implants to provide a simulation of breast volume. Computer imaging is also used to provide a visual simulation of the anticipated result. While there is no exact method to precisely select an implant size, these two methods have proven valuable over time in our practice and have minimized the need for size change operations.

Breast surgery has been a mainstay of Dr. Kirn's practice from the beginning. With extensive experience in augmentation, lift, reduction, revision, and reconstruction, your breast surgery needs can be met in our practice. Consultation is the first step in surgical planning. All consultation visits include a detailed discussion of the procedure options as well as computer imaging to provide a simulation of the anticipated surgical result. Each patient is unique, so the plan is custom tailored to suit your needs and goals. There are no assembly line / cookie cutter operations in Dr. Kirn's practice.

Dr. Kirn uses a state of the art power-assisted liposuction (PAL) system as well as the SAFE lipo technique. He has used the PAL system for several years and has upgraded the system as new technology became available. Unlike laser and ultrasound techniques, the PAL does not add energy or heat to the tissues which can lead to tissue injury. The PAL makes more efficient use of each pass of the liposuction cannula which seems to minimize swelling and bruising. Also, it allows improved treatment of more fibrous body areas. Ultrasonic assisted liposuction is available for special circumstances which benefit from that technique. SAFE lipo is a refinement of PAL in which two additional steps are added to enhance the quality and smoothness of the result. â??SAFEâ? is an acronym with â??Sâ? indicating Separation of fat, which is the first step and uses a special cannula on the PAL to prepare the area for fat removal. â??Aâ? is for Aspiration, which is the normal process of liposuction, again using the PAL equipment. Lastly, â??FEâ? stands for Fat Equalization.

While surgery remains the core of Kirn Plastic Surgery, nonsurgical treatments play a key role as well. We offer a full spectrum of nonsurgical treatments including neurotoxin (Botox® and Dysport®), dermal fillers (Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvederm®, Radiesse®, Sculptra®, Fat Grafting), chemical peels, laser, and a comprehensive skin care program. Both Dr. Kirn, and nurse-injector, Carrie Sanders, RN perform neurotoxin and dermal filler treatments. Dr. Kirn performs all of the laser procedures, and skin care is offered through the Aesthetic Skin Care Center located in the same building. For all of these interventions, the first step is to come in for consultation. Usually, neurotoxin and dermal filler treatment can be completed on the same visit. Our goal is to provide a wide array of options to meet the patient needs.

We use many different fillers and each has different longevity. In addition, the area in which the filler is placed also effects longevity. That said, some averages to keep in mind are that Restylane and Juvederm typically last around 6 months or so, Perlane and Radiesse typically last 9 - 12 months, and Sculptra lasts around 2 years. Note that these are averages and are based on our experience in our own patients. There can be substantial differences from patient to patient and area to area. We have many patients who experience longevity greatly exceeding these averages.
