I have participated in regulatory negotiations with the US Department of the Interior and the US Environmental Protection Agency. My reputation before senior industry professionals and government officials as knowledgeable, collaborative, objective and fair enables me to address a wide range of commercial and regulatory disputes. In 2003 I received an MMS Corporate Leadership Award for several years of advocacy "demonstrating commitment to resolving differences, reducing litigation and developing simplified royalty processes." I am a trained, certified and practicing mediator. I am active in several national, state and local dispute resolution organizations: ABA Section on Dispute Resolution, the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Virginia Mediation Network, the Northern Virginia Mediation Service, the Virginia ADR Joint Committee and the Restorative Justice Association of Virginia. Under the aegis of the Northern Virginia Mediation Service, I co-chair a group that designed and is implementing a restorative justice demonstration project for high schools, middle schools and elementary schools in Fairfax County, Virginia, the nation's 13th largest public school system. In Washington, DC, I have mediated over 100 cases in the DC Superior Court; I also mediate misdemeanor cases referred by the US Attorney. I am a founding member of Mediators Beyond Borders.
