Data Tools, Southeastern Massachusetts (2008) Funder: National Science Foundation ITEST program (Information Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers) Project website In partnership with TERC and Eastern Massachusetts middle and high schools, this program helps students explore how data informs inquiry-based science learning through GIS, spreadsheet, and imaging software. Detroit Information Technology Youth Project, Detroit, MI (2008) Funder: National Science Foundation ITEST program (Information Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers) Project website In this partnership between the Detroit Public Schools, City of Detroit Department of Homeland Security, and Eastern Michigan University, high school students will develop geospatial visualization, analysis, and modeling skills learning GIS and other spatial analysis technologies as a strategy to increase the STEM skills in urban youth and guide them toward advanced science study and related career options. Project WetKids, Pascagoula and Gautier, MS (2008) Funder: National Science Foundation Informal Science Education AYS program (Academies for Young Scientists) Project website In partnership with University of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi Audubon, and the Pascagoula and Gautier School Districts, middle and high school students develop STEM skills through wetland curriculum. Boston Symphony Orchestra Educational Programs Evaluation Measures, Boston, MA (2008) Funder: U.S. Dept. of Education, NEA Project website Development of program-specific evaluation tools and staff training for administration and analysis. The goal is to offload evaluation expertise to program staff to encourage ongoing evaluation efforts as part of all program activities. MarineTech: Increasing STEM Skills Through Marine Science, Hampton Roads and Richmond area, VA (2008-2009) Funder: State Council of Higher Education for Virginia In partnership with Old Dominion University, middle and high school students in Virginia will learn STEM skills through marine science and marine industry projects. The program will build relationships with the marine sciences and shipbuilding industries with an emphasis on career options. Keeping Score Education, multiple states (2005-present) Funder: James Irvine Foundation, Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund Project website Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony have developed Keeping Score: MTT on Music in order to offer today's audiences a connection to classical music via today's media. Now in its fourth year, the Keeping Score (KS) Education Program provides support to teachers in CA, AZ, and OK schools to integrate classical music into every day curriculum, placing music as a cornerstone for all learning while developing tomorrow's audiences. Education Design is leading the program evaluation in collaboration with the Center for Music in Education at New England Conservatory.
