Flanders, Elsberg & Dunn LLC is one of the oldest law firms west of the Mississippi and probably the oldest Colorado firm in continuous existence. Throughout the firm’s history, the philosophy has been to provide the highest quality legal services as efficiently as possible. The law firm was formed in 1871 (the same year the Town of Longmont was formed) by Col. Byron L. Carr (1842 - 1899) and Charles E. Day (18__- 1911). The firm became Carr and Secor in 1882 after F.P. Secor (1852 – 1930) read for the law under the supervision of Col. Carr. In 2007, it became the firm today known as Flanders, Elsberg & Dunn LLC. The firm was originally located in the St. Vrain Hotel on the east side of the 300 block of Main Street in Longmont. Since 1964, it has been located at 401 Main Street. The firm partners are: John C. Flanders (a fourth generation attorney with the firm), R. Lee Elsberg and Scott W. Dunn. The firm’s associate attorney is Elizabeth Montague.
