What I found exceeded my wildest expectations."GSC SEEDS OF SUSTENANCE (SOS) FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS IN AFRICA The GSC Seeds of Sustenance SOS Fellowship Program in Tanzania, Africa provides training and volunteer project experience to participating fellows in the areas of HIV/AIDS prevention, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture and food security. The SOS Fellowship is for professionals with Masters Degrees and some previous international experience, and is designed to provide further training and field experience to assist participants in obtaining a full-time position in the field of international development. GSC SOS Fellows are chosen in a competitive process that includes an interview with the GSC SOS Fellowship Coordinator and final selection by the African hosting organization. Once selected, SOS Fellows are joined in Arusha, Tanzania by Local Fellows provided by participating international and community-based host organizations from sub-Saharan Africa. Visiting and Local Fellows then participate in a four-week technical Training of Trainers (TOT) program. These Fellow teams spend the remainder of the year at host organization field offices building training and program capacity in these organizations. GSC has been joined by a number of international organizations including the UN Food and Agriculture Organization to provide SOS services to communities in Tanzania, Lesotho, Mozambique and Malawi. We are not currently offering the traditional SOS fellowships, but individual Community Development Program and Integrated Program placements are available in Tanzania to assist the GSC staff in the development and implementation of the Tanzania HIV/AIDS prevention and education program and the sustainable agriculture and food security program.
