GOFAR's mission is to eliminate pet overpopulation in the Greater Oneonta area through effective spay/neuter programs, education and assistance to area shelters. GOFAR's primary objectives are: - Promote the general welfare of pets - Focus public attention on pet overpopulation - Provide funds and volunteers to spay/neuter services. - Promote education on responsible pet ownership - Aid local shelters Since it was founded, in 1990, GOFAR has subsidized a spay/neuter voucher program to provide assistance to low income families. Since the year 2000, GOFAR also runs a clinic that provides low cost spay/neuter for cats and is held monthly.
