Description

Grocery Outlet grew out of a business established by the late Jim Read in San Francisco during the mid-1940s. The company, initially called Cannery Sales, bought warehouse overstocks and sold them at huge discounts. In the late 1960s, Jim's two sons, Peter and Steven, joined the firm. Over the past four decades the Grocery Outlet business model has evolved to a one stop solution for grocery and household items. Grocery Outlet provides much of the total grocery shopping experience, PLUS offering the thrill of discovery through the unexpected unique and exciting bargains. As of April 2006 the business encompasses 125 stores in seven states. Click " Locations " in the navigation bar to visit these stores. In order to provide its customers with "bargains only," Grocery Outlet focuses on finding the best deals from food, beverage and consumer goods companies. Grocery Outlet works with about 2,500 manufacturers to provide its customers with a wide variety of products, including frozen and refrigerated foods, dry groceries, beer and wine (where allowed by law), health and beauty care, over-the-counter drugs and general merchandise. The best way to describe Grocery Outlet is the phrase "Bargains Only." We are truly the store for bargains on grocery, household and health and beauty care products. We have a large selection of frozen food and deli items, plus produce and milk, at big savings.
