Description
At Hamilton Scrap Processors, we are leaders in our field with over twenty years of experience in the industry. But our roots go back even further. The company has been processing paper since it was founded as the Sherman Paper Stock Company by Sam Sherman in the 1920s. Herman Fogal, a relative of Sherman, took over the operation at the time of Sherman?s death and shortened the name to Shepaco Inc. Neil and Ken Cohen, Fogel?s nephews, bought Shepaco in 1975 and Neil continues as president. For eight years Shepaco Paper Company?s base of operation was on the corner of Fifth Street and Maple Avenue. The company bought seven acres at Hensel Place and began operations at the new location in November of 1983. In July 1990, the name Shepaco Paper Company was changed to Hamilton Scrap Processors, (HSP) Inc., to provide better identification of the operation. Up to that time HSP had concentrated its efforts on scrap paper processing; however, a new direction was developing to include a greater emphasis on ferrous and nonferrous metals. From the humble beginnings of 3000 square foot building on less than an acre and five employees, HSP now occupies over six acres with 80,000 square feet under roof and employs over 25 people. With a strong background and a rich history, Hamilton Scrap Processors, Inc. is looking forward to many years of continued growth.
