Pennsylvania Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Associates at Hickory Veterinary Hospital is dedicated to providing your pet with "advanced" surgical procedures such as arthroscopy, total hip replacement , tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, and soft tissue surgeries. The surgical team strives to provide a compassionate, team-oriented approach to caring for our patients. Our patients are intensely monitored and cared for during their surgical procedure and during their recovery in the hospital.

While early ocular disease and minor conditions can be managed appropriately by your pet's primary care veterinarian, more serious conditions like blindness, glaucoma, eyelid defects, retinal degeneration or ocular tumors may need the expertise of a veterinary ophthalmologist. Neurology is the branch of medicine that treats diseases of the nervous system; the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. This encompasses such common problems as epilepsy, meningitis, cancer of the nervous system, intervertebral disc disease and cerebellar ataxia. A board certified neurologist is trained in state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques. They will utilize advanced imaging such as CT or MRI scans to look at the structure of the nervous system. With electrodiagnostic tests, a neurologist can examine the function of the nervous system, particularly the peripheral nerves and muscles.
