IMT Associates was founded in 1985 in San Leandro, California and is owned and operated by founding partner Sharon Toth, LCSW and Meredith Taylor, MFT , who became partner in 2009. Former founding partner, Fred Isaacs II, Ph.D., MFT retired from the company in 2004. Having previously worked in the public services sector, they saw over and over again that elderly people, despite having a home and financial resources, were being institutionalized because they lacked responsible people to care for them.

In addition to her own caseload of clients, Meredith supervises case management services, provides leadership to our staff and identifies learning and development opportunities. She manages new referrals for our services and provides client assessments and consultations. Through the years, she has worked closely with a wide variety of clients, focusing on the elderly, mentally ill and developmentally and physically disabled that suffer from dementia, depression or other serious medical and psychiatric conditions.

The court will appoint a Conservator of the Person and/or Estate when an individual no longer has the capacity to take care of their own health or welfare. Sometimes family members take on this responsibility without fully understanding the legal issues and personal sacrifices. IMT is experienced in both probate and mental health (LPS) Conservatorship cases. We respect the individual in this process and are actively involved in meeting their everyday needs to maintain as much independence as possible.

Robert has been with IMT since 1992 and has extensive experience working with clients with mental health and substance abuse issues. He has two Masters degrees, one in Public Health from U.C. Berkeley, and another in Counseling Psychology from C.S.U. Hayward. Robert is currently a member of the Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services Housing Task Force. Prior to joining IMT, he worked as a Public Health Nutritionist and performed 8 years of administrative work for the military.

We are often named in a person’s will or appointed by the court to act as Executor or Administrator of a decedent’s estate. This is a court supervised process and can be very intimidating to the non-professional. We take charge and marshal the assets, do an inventory and appraisal, prepare personal and estate tax returns, pay creditor claims, maintain or sell properties, prepare a court accounting and distribute the assets to the beneficiaries upon court approval.
