Iowa Medicaid Drug Utilization Review

Description

The Iowa Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Commission is a quality assurance body which seeks to improve the quality of pharmacy services and ensure rational, cost-effective medication therapy for Medicaid recipients in Iowa. In its sixteenth year of operation, the Commission consists of four physicians and four pharmacists who are active in their respective professions. Also included are a representative from the Department of Human Services, who acts as a liaison between the Department and the Commission, and a professional staff of three pharmacists who provide administrative and clinical support to the Commission. The Commissioners' professional experiences include family practice, internal medicine, hematology/oncology, microbiology, geriatrics, psychiatry, community pharmacy practice, long-term care pharmacy practice, and hospital pharmacy practice.
