MagiQ has also assembled an advisory board of leaders from academia, business and government to provide ongoing outside counsel throughout the product identification and development process.Quantum information processing is a new technology that has the potential to revolutionize information processing. For example, in the area of cryptography and data encryption, QIP may completely alter the balance of power between code-breakers and code-makers. Quantum technology threatens the very foundation of standard encryption schemes including RSA, Digital Signature Algorithm and elliptic curve algorithm. At the same time, the principles of quantum cryptography allow unconditional security of communication based on the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics.Some aspects of QIP are more mature than others. For instance, the feasibility of quantum cryptography has been extensively demonstrated in laboratories and via standard telecom fibers. In our opinion, it is a question of when, rather than if, quantum cryptographic products will reach the marketplace.
