Mapleton Hill Orthopaedics is a diverse group covering all aspects of orthopaedic care for Boulder county patients. Our staff includes five physicians, four board certified orthopaedic surgeons and a board certified physical medicine specialist. We strive to bring together a well-trained, experienced, and compassionate group of Medical and Orthopaedic professionals to provide the highest quality orthopaedic care in a personalized and efficient treatment environment. Our philosophy includes believing that with patience and education, all patients can understand their problem and become an active participant in their medical care decision-making process.

Dr. Blackwood has a longstanding connection with Boulder County. His grandparents, Murray and JoAnn Powell, lived in Longmont for over 50 years. His grandfather was a dentist in Longmont until his retirement, which was spent raising cattle north of Longmont. Dr. Blackwood spent many summers working on their ranch outside of town and even won a blue ribbon in the Boulder County fair showing cattle as a teenager. His wife, Dr. Lisabeth Hall, is a Boulder native and they both are very excited to be returning home to the Rocky Mountains with their two young children. As an undergraduate at Carroll College in Helena, Montana, Dr. Blackwood was a 2 time Academic All-American football player. He still enjoys a variety of sports, outdoor activities, and spending time with his wife and family.

Many of the ventures we are currently undertaking reinforce our statements. To help communicate, and educate you we not only provide brochures and discussion while in the office, we are also upgrading our website, www.mapletonhill.com to allow that communication and education to take you further. We are more involved with helping you through your recovery by starting a state of the art physical therapy clinic - OrthoSport of Boulder; headed by Sandy Bertrand, P.T. along with Kristen Payne, ATC, Steven Faust, PT, and Katharine Hauge, PT. We have also joined forces with other physicians in starting up a new MRI facility, Flatirons Imaging, a center to provide advanced and comfortable MRI's for all Boulder county patients. AND, we are also working with Boulder Community Hospital to open a new center of excellence for bone and joint surgery and pain management. This will allow us to help influence your opinions and attitudes toward your surgical experience while providing you with complete orthopaedic care that will make your total experience a positive one.
