Midwest Chapter HIMSS

Description

The Midwest Gateway Chapter of HIMSS is the official local chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. As one of the 49 affiliated chapters of HIMSS, an international not-for-profit organization with over 35,000 individual members, 520 corporate members and 120 not-for-profit organizations, we share the mission of transforming healthcare through the effective use of information technology and management systems. The purpose of the Chapter is to provide healthcare and information technology professionals in our region with a forum to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences, provide timely communication regarding emerging healthcare IT issues, and to assist members and students in their professional growth. We have nearly 600 members from healthcare provider organizations, medical schools and universities, technology developers, not-for-profit organizations and government agencies. Our region encompasses the St. Louis Metropolitan Area, Eastern and Central Missouri, and Southern Illinois.

HIMSS leads efforts to optimize health engagements and care outcomes using information technology. HIMSS is a cause-based, global enterprise producing health IT thought leadership, education, events, market research and media services around the world. Founded in 1961, HIMSS encompasses more than 52,000 individuals, of which more than two-thirds work in healthcare provider, governmental and not-for-profit organizations across the globe, plus over 600 corporations and 250 not-for-profit partner organizations, that share this cause. HIMSS, headquartered in Chicago, serves the global health IT community with additional offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
