windows would play a very important role in the business future of Cary and Alexis Richman. Starting in 1977 as New Morning Builders, they offered residential remodeling services throughout the Minneapolis and St. Paul area. Business was good, but meeting the needs of customers requesting arch-top windows was a challenge. Window manufacturers had effectively stopped arch window production after World War II, when track home developments became the norm in residential building. When custom home building began to take root again (in the mid 1970s), the demand for arch-top units increased. Cary and Alexis recognized that this market niche was not being addressed. In 1979, with much apprehension and very little capital, they began to build their own all-wood, fixed arch windows. With hard work and a good deal of on-the-job training, the future was slowly beginning to take shape. In 1980, the company was incorporated under its current name New Morning Windows.
