Step 1: Consult an eyelid specialist. Consider the following questions: Is the plastic surgeon dedicated to the eyelids and upper face? What percentage of the plastic surgeon's practice is limited to eyelid surgery? Is it 100% or merely 25% or less? Does the surgeon spend his time with breast implants and liposuction and tummy tucks and rhinoplasties and other procedures which require a focus away from the eyes? If the plastic surgeon does do breast implants, liposuction, etc., how can the surgeon possibly keep up-to-date with the latest technology and knowledge for so many different types of surgery? Wouldn't it be better to know absolutely everything about one specific area, such as the eyelids? Would you bring your Mercedes to a Mercedes-only Service Center, or would you bring it to a general auto repair shop? Similarly, it is more appropriate to consult a specialist who spends all of his/her time doing only one thing, and doing it well. Breast implant surgery and liposuction surgery are completely different from eyelid surgery. A surgeon who tells you that "all plastic surgery is the same" is not likely to appreciate the important differences between areas of the body, nor is that surgeon likely to understand how special the eyes are. A plastic surgeon dedicated to the eyelids and upper face has all of his/her experience, attention, and expertise focused in one unique area.
