Description

The Rogosin Institute has been involved in basic and clinical research trials for over 45 years. These efforts support the mission of RI to bring the results of research to patients as quickly as possible and to provide the best care possible. Basic research involves experiments and studies that occur in a laboratory setting. Clinical research trials involves the participation of human volunteers to help answer questions about new treatments or new ways of using known treatments (drugs and/or procedures) for diseases.

At The Rogosin Institute, our patients are part of the healthcare team. We provide as much information and support as we possibly can so that they feel fully informed and comfortable with any medical procedure, treatment, regimen or follow-up care that is recommended. Our administrative and medical staff truly cares about our patients and we are committed to providing the highest quality care in a friendly, accommodating environment.

January 25, 2011 — In an audacious twist on the concept of fighting fire with fire, scientists have developed a provocative strategy of fighting cancer with cancer. Researchers at the Rogosin Institute are taking tumor cells from mice, encapsulating them in beads made from a seaweed-derived sugar called agarose, and implanting them in the abdomen of cancer patients. There, cells in the beads secrete proteins researchers believe could signal a patient's cancer to stop growing, shrink or even die.

The Rogosin Kidney Center (RKC) is the most comprehensive not-for-profit facility for the treatment of kidney diseases from all causes and in all stages. Rogosin Kidney Center physicians had 15,000 patient visits in the Dreyfus Clinic in 2007, where the dedicated staff were able to evaluate their kidney disease symptoms and diagnose and treat the different types of kidney disease. Many nephrologists at Rogosin have over thirty years experience in treating kidney disease including treatment for stage 4 kidney disease.

Carol, now 73 years old, describes her long-term relationship with Rogosin Institute. In the early 1970's, Carol was diagnosed with kidney disease and had to start dialysis. In 1975, Rogosin was able to provide her with a kidney transplant that enabled her to live 22 glorious years without a problem.
