It is my pleasure to serve as Superintendent of Schools for Shepherd ISD. I am proud of our students and staff, and enjoy the support of the community for the progressive educational programs currently in place. Students at Shepherd ISD receive a sound instructional program. Test scores have consistently risen, as shown through specific information available at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/aeis . Programs to meet students' special needs are available, and extracurricular activities provide opportunities for the ongoing involvement of our students and their parents.Presently, Shepherd ISD employs 263 teachers, paraprofessionals, auxiliary personnel, bus drivers, and administrators. All can be characterized by their quality, experience, and "students first" attitudes.In the last few years Shepherd ISD has enjoyed a steady 3% growth in its student population. This growth rate has allowed the district to complete new facilities such as a $7.5 million high school in 1997, complete a new $2.5 million athletic complex in August, 2001, and maintain existing facilities in a manner seen as a source of pride for the community. Plans are currently underway to renovate the intermediate school campus to add classrooms and accommodate additional technology needs.
