Philippe J. Goix, Ph.D. President and Chief Executive Officer, Singulex, Incorporated Philippe Goix has more than a decade of entrepreneurial biotechnology experience, successfully leading fast growing, product-centered, innovative companies backed by institutional venture capitalists. Since joining Singulex in September 2004, Dr. Goix has driven Singulex technology toward commercialization, secured strategic intellectual property for its technology, raised several “up rounds” of funding, and built a strong reagent and diagnostics commercialization strategy. Prior to joining Singulex, Philippe Goix founded Guava Technologies, Incorporated, where he held successive positions as president and chief technology officer. Dr. Goix founded Guava in June 1997 and led the company as it established a presence in the life science market. Under his leadership, Guava assembled industry-leading executives, raised capital to develop its proprietary technology, defined a strategy to commercialization, and identified a very strong demand for future products in the life science marketplace. Prior to this experience, Dr. Goix worked for more than 15 years in the field of laser analytical devices applied to fluid mechanics. He worked at CNRS in France, as a charge de recherché, at Sandia National Laboratories, and at Stanford University as a scientist, where he developed sophisticated laser-based diagnostic tools to investigate complex fluidics systems. Dr. Goix holds a doctorate in physics from University of Rouen, France and an MBA from the University of San Francisco. Heiner Dreismann, Ph.D. Heiner Dreismann has over 20 years’ experience in biotech and healthcare companies, most recently as president and CEO of Roche Molecular Systems, Incorporated (RMS), the division of Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd that pioneered clinical molecular diagnostics. Before this, he held various management positions in Roche, among them head of integration office diagnostics for the merger of the IVD business of Roche Diagnostics and Boehringer Mannheim. Dr. Dreismann received his M.A. in biology and his Ph.D. in microbiology/molecular biology both from Westfalische Wilheims University in Munster, Germany. Carl L. Gordon, Ph.D., CFA General Partner of OrbiMed and Co-Head of Private Equity Carl L. Gordon is a founding General Partner of OrbiMed and Co-Head of Private Equity. Dr. Gordon is active in both private equity and small-capitalization public equity investments. He was a senior biotechnology analyst at Mehta and Isaly from 1995 to 1997. He was a Fellow at The Rockefeller University from 1993 to 1995. Dr. Gordon received a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His doctoral work involved studies of protein folding and assembly. He received a Bachelors degree from Harvard College.
