Description

It's easy to see how anyone could fall in love with La Jolla, at first sight. La Jolla is not filled with hundreds of nightclubs, bright flashing neon lights, oversized hotels, or senseless signs advertising the next big thing. Instead you will find a charming Mediterranean lifestyle, lined with small, elegant shops and oceanfront homes, featuring breath-taking views of enchanting coves and white sandy beaches. La Jolla real estate have price ranges from $250,000 (condos / townhomes) to $30 million dollar coastal properties. Living in La Jolla can also be a very active lifestyle. Many of the homes and condos in La Jolla or located within walking distance to everything you need from shopping, to a post office or mailing center, as well as great restaurants. Other activities in La Jolla include tennis, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, or just relaxing in the perfect climate of La Jolla. Known to La Jolla resident's, as "The Village", is a community filled with luxury homes, winding streets, blended with modest cottages, which are some of the remaining evidence of La Jolla's early days when it was a turn-of-the-century resort. People have been visiting this lovely community since the 1880's, even when it was a long trip through dusty roads, that could take the better part of the day to finally arrive. Nowadays, it is only a twenty minute drive, on Interstate 5, from downtown San Diego. If you are wanting to see the La Jolla in full 360 degree view, then you must drive to the top of Mount Soledad by taking Hidden Valley Road. The view is not only spectacular, but it is the best spot to view the community of La Jolla. If you would like to tour La Jolla on foot, the ideal place to begin is along Coast Boulevard at La Jolla Cove. Because of it clear, calm water, this area is a favorite to residents, vacationers and San Diegans who like to swim, snorkel, sunbathe, or scuba dive. In season, meaning summertime or hotter than normal days, the beaches can become quite busy, but off-season in La Jolla offers a much more quiet environment. Still lifeguards are available on an annual basis. Ellen Browning Scripps Park is located just south of the cove and is a long stretch of soft grass, with a park atmosphere, making it an ideal place to bring the family, lounge around, have a picnic, gaze at the oceanview and even listen to music, as there are free concerts scheduled on weekends. If you move seaward you will come to Boomer Beach, which is a surfer's paradise. High tide brings the waves "Booming in to Shore", thus naming this stretch of beach. Only more experienced surfers should ride here, because there is a high price to be paid if mistakes are made. Surfers must pull out of the wave before it breaks on the shallow, jagged ocean floor. Continue going south and you will come to the Seal Rock Marine Mammal Reserve, located at the beginning of Jenner Street. These seals have taken over a beach as their own and it can be quite a site to see 50 to 100 seals sunbathing the day away. Always keep your distance and never feed the animals. If you are wanting to walk through the dining and shopping district in La Jolla, you can really begin anywhere.
