Founded in 1995, the Renton Reporter follows in the proud tradition of about two dozen community newspapers that have covered the community for more than 100 years. The first of those community voices was the Renton Sentinel, first published in November 1898 when the city was known for building bricks.

Kirkland’s hometown newspaper started life as the Courier in 1979, renamed the Kirkland Reporter in 2008. While growing into an affluent waterfront suburb of Seattle, Kirkland today is tempered by a small-town heritage that still resonates with residents and visitors alike. Founded in 1905, the city is adorned with several city parks along Lake Washington and remains the lake’s only waterfront downtown.

Founded in 1987, Sound Publishing, Inc. is the largest community news organization in Washington State. Today, more people read Sound Publishing community newspapers than traditional dailies in the markets we cover.

Sound prints all of its own newspapers and numerous other publications at our centrally located, state-of-the-art printing facility in Everett. The plant, located just northwest of the I-5/I-405 interchange, features two press lines and complete prepress, publication handling, bindery, mailing and transportation services, enabling us to meet the needs and demands of partner publishers across the state. Our largest press line is specifically designed to facilitate full-color printing on up to 40 tabloid pages in one section.

Sound Publishing, Inc. secured 215 awards. 73 of those were 1st place, including the coveted General Excellence! Significant, as they are voted on by our peers in the industry. The Enumclaw Courier-Herald remains dedicated to providing local news that affects life and work within our community. No one else reports down to the neighborhood level.
