Description

Fran Seiford made her first $25 investment in stamps in the Fall of 1981 when she ordered a batch of custom rubber stamps made from her own illustrations. As an Art Major at Biola University, she dreamed of doing children's book illustration or greeting cards. Those first stamps were used to design greeting cards she hoped to have published. Although some artwork was sold for greeting cards, she made more money selling her custom stamps and teaching others how to make their own greeting cards. Fran wanted to make quality products anyone could use to share their expressions in a rewarding and creative way.Fran worked full time as Assistant Art Director for a gift manufacturer and managed the stamp business on the side for the first 2 years. The name Stampendous was established in January 1983 and the home based business grew at an exciting rate. In January 1988 the business moved to a 1200 square foot warehouse in Fullerton. Over the next 5 years the company doubled its sales volume each year and outgrew several more warehouses. The business has outgrown it's two warehouses in Anaheim. The look of the stamps, production methods and stamping possibilities have changed and improved dramatically over the years. These beautifully handcrafted stamps are still Fran's hand drawn illustrations, often inspired by her frequent travels, and are manufactured right here in the USA.
