Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare has served Nassau County and the surrounding communities since 1992, when it opened under the name Nassau County Mental Health Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council, Inc. We are a private, not-for-profit agency providing psychiatric treatment, mental health counseling and substance abuse treatment. Our goal is to provide a coordinated approach to care that meets the individual needs of the client and addresses the total behavioral health needs of the community.

At Starting Point our goal is to help the people in our community live their best lives. That ?s why we offer aid to those in need of mental health and substance abuse treatment. We provide a wide variety of programs for all ages with special behavioral health and substance abuse programs for children, teens, women and older adults.

Starting Point accepts private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, credit cards, debit cards, checks and cash. For those individuals who are uninsured, we provide a sliding scale fee based on your income. Additional financial assistance may be available through our Scholarship program, which is funded by donations to Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare.

Each year, we serve more than 3,500 individuals by providing in excess of 71,000 hours of treatment. We offer both individual and group counseling and have specialized programs for children, teens, women and older adults. Electronic Health Records and evidence-based protocols are among the many tools we use to provide the very best quality of care to those who seek our help.

We take great pride in the many behavioral health services we provide to children and adults in our community. Starting Point works with our schools, legal system and other health providers in our community to meet the mental health and substance abuse needs of our neighbors in Nassau County.
