First off, 2 finals down, three to go. I’m really looking forward to my finals being over, I need a break. Some awesome legal news: http://money.cnn.com/2008/12/04/news/companies/bratz_dolls.ap/index.htm?postversion=2008120406 Seems a jury decided that the creator of Bratz dolls developed the idea for the dolls while still working for Matel. This means that Matel legally owns the copyright to, at the very least, the first four dolls. The judge ordered that every line of Bratz doll must be taken off the market, causing the company that makes them to shut down. They are allowed to do this after the holidays. The dispute now is whether only the first four dolls violate Matel’s copyright or whether all of them do. Of course both sides have their own interpretation of what the jury found to be in violation of the copyright. I’m going to keep my eyes peeled on this case. I’ll let it be known, I don’t like the Bratz dolls at all. I don’t think they should be dressed that way and marketed to tweens. I feel old saying this, even though I’m only 24, but seriously, what is wrong with kids today? How can they like stuff like Bratz dolls and why would anyone come up with this junk to sell to them? Bah, anyway, back to work.
