Twin Modal was established in 1977 as Twin City Piggyback, providing services as an intermodal "shipper’s agent." The company focused on boxcar, trailer (TOFC) and container (COFC) services, and grew rapidly. In 1980, the company added truck brokerage to its expanding service menu, and began to grow even more rapidly, adding customers from diverse industries and locations. In 1984, the company changed its name to Twin Modal, in order to more accurately reflect its multiple service offerings.

Twin Modal has been providing shippers with innovative freight solutions since 1977. In that time we've emerged as one of the leading transportation intermediaries in the industry. As our reputation has grown, so have our capabilities. With offices from coast to coast, our service network spans North America.
