Just The Facts The purpose of the United Way of Monterey County is to lead in uniting the people and resources of Monterey County communities in effectively addressing each area’s most pressing needs. Simply stated, United Way seeks to mobilize community resources to impact and change lives for the better.The United Way of Monterey County was incorporated on June 30, 2000 as a result of a merger of the United Way of the Monterey Peninsula (founded 1929) and the United Way of the Salinas Valley (founded 1944).The 2005-2006 Campaign Goal is $3.5 Million. The Campaign will be completed on March 31, 2006. Last year’s campaign raised just over $3.6 million.
