Adult students are accepted into daytime programs as space permits. Opportunities exist for adult students to upgrade skills in their current position, refresh skills for employment, or enter a new field. Adult students are offered individualized programs tailored to their needs. Flexible scheduling, child care on the campus (not affiliated with WACTC), and placement assistance are available. Customized industry employee training programs are also offered. Western Area CTC is a state-approved TRA/TAA educational provider. Tuition is $8.25 per instructional hour. The number of hours contracted will determine the final cost. All payments must be made in advance. Companies requesting to be billed should send an authorized letter to the Business Coordinator, Western Area Career & Technology Center, 688 Western Avenue, Canonsburg, PA 15317. The letter should be on company letterhead, signed by an authorized company official and must include a request to be billed. Adults attending classes during the day time are required to obtain Act 33 and Act 34 Clearances. Complete Adult Education Classes Brochure CCBC Culinary Program Community College of Beaver County, in partnership with WACTC, offers Associate Degree or Certificate programs that prepare students with little or no culinary experience to move immediately into the workforce upon graduation. The culinary courses are offered during the evening, usually two evenings per week. Additionally, the training prepares you for ServSafe Certification, a much needed and well-compensated requirement in the food service industry. Western Area CTC ’s Licensed Practical Nursing program is a 12-month full-time or 24-month part-time program and is divided into four levels of instruction totaling 1,603 hours. Clinical experience is given concurrently with theory. Graduates are eligible to take the Practical Nurse Licensure Examination. Practical nurses are employed in hospitals, long-term care facilities, physicians ’ and dentists ’ offices, community health clinics, industry, and in private homes under the supervision of registered nurses and licensed physicians. The armed services grant a special rating to licensed practical nurses. The Pharmacy Technician Program length is 8 months or 34 weeks. Total hours 670: 390 hours theory and lab, 280 hours externship.Tuition cost $2624.00, Other fees (books, lab and resource center fees, insurance, name pin and Lab jacket) $637.00, Total $3261.00. Program hours Monday, Wednesday & Thursdays from 4:30pm -9:30 pm. Externship hours are according to the facility and are full-time hours. Requirements: high school diploma, or GED, or Home School Equivalent Certificate, appropriate health, eye and mental exams, two-step PPD or chest x-ray, current Criminal Background and Child Abuse Clearances, and basic computer skill Upon successful completion of the program students will be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification.
