Windward Software Training & Consulting was founded by Rick Camara in October of 2000. It was that year that his employer, Catapult Software Training (An IBM Company) was dissolving its subsidiary and closed all nationwide operations. After having been in the training industry for several years, Rick knew that he needed to continue pursuing his passion for training; hence, the beginning of Windward Software Training & Consulting. A Bay Area native and graduate of the University of San Francisco, Rick has spent many years working in professional environments and understands the need for a flexible approach to training. He has trained thousands of individuals in public classrooms and on-site at major corporations throughout the United States. One of his specialties at Catapult was learning proprietary software from corporate vendors (Ericsson, Genentech, IBM, Quantum …) and deliver the training to their clients. He attributes his success to a building block of opportunities that developed when he joined Toastmasters International in 1982, while working at Ford Aerospace. In Toastmasters Rick developed communication and leadership skills and pursued his college degree with encouragement by club members. At Ford he was asked to provide supply training for their customer, the U.S. Air Force. Due to the loss of the Air Force contract, Rick was laid off by Ford but was grateful for new opportunities. He became a training manager for The Training Center in Sunnyvale where he developed curriculum, delivered presentations, provided customer service and even provided sales and marketing for their management and technical training courses. Training being his passion, Rick worked as an evening instructor for Computer Learning Center in San Jose. It was there he realized how important being in the classroom was to him so he pursued a career as a software instructor and ended up with Catapult Software Training. At Catapult he became a certified expert in Microsoft Office products and gave many train-the-trainer sessions to their Northern California District instructors. Windward Software Training & Consulting specializes in end-user training for Microsoft products. Our focus is to help close the technology gap and reduce costs for our clients. We understand the importance of the diversity in the training industry and are working to meld instructor-led training with e-learning and virtual training.
