Many people choose to have the casket decorated before it enters the hearse, so it is not unusual to see a casket adorned with flower scatterings often spelling the name of the deceased. This is a nice touch to the service. Many hearses are equipped with extra lighting to make sure they are noticed on the road during processions. Flashing lights and light bars such as those used on ambulances are the most common choice. Hearses have a long lifespan as they are only used for short, slow trips. They can easily be used for over 30 years, however most funeral companies prefer to update them every ten years. Hearses aren’t cheaper either and cost between $40,000 up to $65,000 each. Many people choose to have a procession as part of their or their loved ones funeral service. The hearse will usually lead the procession.
