Primary Energy Ventures LLC (Primary Energy Ventures) originates from the acquisition of the unregulated industrial cogeneration business of NiSource, Inc. by Private Power LLC in October 2003. Since that time the company has grown through a series of acquisitions. The company is led by Chariman and CEO Thomas R. Casten and CFO and COO William D. Rockford. Mr. Casten was founder and CEO of Trigen Energy Corporation (“Trigen”) for 14 years, a successful developer of district energy systems and cogeneration projects. Mr. Rockford was previously a Managing Director of Chase Manhattan Corporation responsible for the Global Power, Project Finance and Environmental Group.Primary Energy Ventures creates value by recycling the heat, waste fuels and pressure drop normally discarded by industrial, electric generation and related processes. Substantial amounts of waste heat and waste fuel are produced as a byproduct of various industrial processes including electric generation, steel, chemical, and petroleum refining. Primary Energy Ventures specializes in capturing these waste energy streams that are typically vented or otherwise discarded.By managing our customers' energy needs and profitably recycling the energy content as electricity and thermal energy, Primary Energy Ventures offers many competitive advantages and allows our customers to focus on their core business.
